What is a Scarecrow Trail?
A Scarecrow Trail is a fun, value for money family event which celebrates local creativity and where the community can come together to enjoy the village and community spirit. You can get involved either as a Scarecrow maker or come along and follow the trail. In a Scarecrow Trail, members of the public and local businesses and groups make scarecrows and display them during the weekend of the trail. The organisers provide a notice showing your scarecrow’s name and a clue which you display next to your scarecrow.
The past 6 years we had an absolutely fantastic response from the village with approximately 60 scarecrows each year, and the atmosphere in the village over the weekend has been fabulous. We would very much appreciate your support and enthusiasm for the event again this year.
During the weekend of the Trail the organisers will be selling “trail sheets” with details of a trail which can only be solved using the numbers on the labels displayed next to or on the scarecrows. The trail sheets will be available from the Parish Hall from 10am – 4pm on both days of the event. These trail sheets are returned with the answer to the organisers at the Parish Hall. The organisers then put the trails sheet into a draw for a cash prize. A map showing where all the scarecrows are will be available from the Parish Hall from 10am – 4pm on both days of the event. Trail sheets will also be available from all members of Girlguiding Brent Knoll.
