Building a Scarecrow
These instructions show how to build a simple scarecrow but be creative and really make them your own!
1. Cut a 10ft wooden pole into two pieces, one 6ft long and the other 4ft long.
2. Place the smaller piece across the larger piece, 1 foot down from the top.
3. Tie the two pieces together with wire or string.
4. Place a shirt on the short cross-piece of the frame and button up in front.
5. Loosely stuff with straw, dry leaves and rags to fill out the shirt.
6. Place gloves at the end of its arms and secure them with rubber bands.
7. Pull one leg of a pair of trousers onto the long pole and leave the other leg to hang freely.
8. Tuck the stuffed shirt into the waist of the trousers.
9. Secure the waist of the trousers to the wood with some rope or a belt, tying them to the cross-piece if needed to keep the
trousers from falling down.
10. Stuff the trousers with the same stuffing materials as the top half.
11. Make a head for your scarecrow by stuffing straw into a pillowcase, tying the pillowcase opening onto the top of the long piece of wood with rope.
12. Draw on a face with felt-tip pens, or attached buttons for eyes and wool or string for a mouth.
13. Stick the scarecrow in the ground or tie it securely in another location.
